This global component manufacturer who is based in West Lothian has a new vacancy for a Plant Engineer (mechanical Bias) to join the business on an initial 6-month fixed term contract. The main remit of the role will be to provide engineering project management services in a heavy engineering environment, driving modernisation improvements in the facility in areas such as reliability projects, CAPEX and manufacturing improvements projects. The successful Plant Engineer will perform the following duties:

  • Provide innovative technical solutions to manufacturing problems primarily through the specification, sourcing, and installation of appropriate plant equipment
  • Design special purpose machines or modifications for existing equipment and manage the plant engineering effort to ensure all projects are completed on time and within budget and regulation.
  • Manage pricing/quotes from external suppliers and provide financial reporting to management to assist with management of CAPEX on all projects.
  • Setting 6s plans, managing resources through planning and prioritising and reporting back on activity.
  • Assist the Health and Safety Manager in shaping Health and Safety policy in relation to all aspects of plant facilities and machinery

The successful Plant Engineer will display the following education, skills and experience.

  • Degree or equivalent in Industrial, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum two years relevant experience in heavy engineering industry with mechanical engineering bias. Knowledge of Hydraulics and pressure systems would be a distinct advantage.
  • Display a good knowledge of CAD design and ideally expereince of Autodesk Inventor
  • Good communication skills with the ability to make decisions using own initiative
  • Knowledge of British and International engineering standards and knowledge of the “ Safety of machinery Regulations” – the CE mark.

This role will offer a salary of up to £35,000 pro rata and will be offered on a 6-month Fixed Term Contract. Working hours are Monday to Thursday 8am to 4.15pm and a 3pm finish on a Friday.
